Attention Parent and/or Guardian;
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is a voluntary and student initiated Bible club that meets on selected Tuesday mornings. During club meetings students will lead prayers, share stories from the Bible, lead songs and will lead discussions about the importance of developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. FCA clubs meet in numerous public schools throughout our county and across the state in public schools. For additional information about FCA, check out (www.FCA.org).
Back during the 2015-2016 school year three students’ submitted letters asking Mr. Durham (former LJES principal) if they could have permission to lead an FCA club here at Lebanon Junction Elementary. Mr. Durham granted them permission to lead the FCA club!
Mr. Clark Kuhn, a P.E. teacher at LJES has agreed to monitor, facilitate, and supervise the club meetings each week. Mr. Kuhn and/or any other LJES employee will be serving in a supervising position only. LJES employees will do none of the leading or teaching of any of the religious material.
All religious lessons and content will be taught and led by current LJES students. Occasionally guest speakers (non-LJES employees) are permitted to teach/share during FCA. Please note that LJES and all public schools maintain a neutral viewpoint in regards to what is said or taught during any student initiated and student led club.
Scheduled FCA meeting dates for 2018 include October 23rd & 30th. November 6th, 13th, and 27th. December 4th & 11th. Additional information about the FCA club at LJES is also on the LJES website. Click the extracurricular tab and then click FCA.
During regular FCA morning meetings, students will need to be dropped off by the cafeteria doors at LJES by 8 am. Regular FCA morning meeting are only for students in grades 3rd through 5th grade. Twice a year FCA may host an after school FCA event led by a guest speaker. Permission forms will be sent home prior to all after school FCA events.
